Flower Paintings

Both are oil paintings on wood. I also used medium.

The pink one is supposed to be painting a picture using the style of an artist, and I tried Georgia O'Keeffe, but I was in a hurry since I was on a deadline and made it in like an hour. The second one took me a long time. For some reason the paint wasn't right. I don't know what was wrong.
Here is the original image to the pink painting. However, I couldn't find the original purple photo anymore. :c

Philippine Resort Beach

Oil painting with medium on wood
This is supposed to be a picture from the Philippines that I searched on Google. Although the colors didn't come out how I wanted it to, I am pleasantly surprised at how it turned out.

Philippines, Chocolate Hills

Oil painting with medium on wood
It's supposed to be a mix of 2 pictures I found of the Philippines on-line. I saw a pretty sunset picture, and I wanted to do the Chocolate Hills, so I combined them.

Fall photo

Oil painting with medium on wood.
I saw a picture on Pinterest and decided that it would challenge myself when it came time to paint. The white part is supposed to be light showing through, but I may have to go back and try to recreate that. Here is the original picture. http://500px.com/photo/3544796 It was kind of different because I didn't print off the picture, and I was looking at it with my iPod.

Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Falling Rocket - Recreation

This is my recreation of a painting by Whistler. I'm not fully completed with it, but I hope it turns out good. Instead of oil paint, I'm using acrylic paint to create this. So it will probably turn out to be a lot different in brush stroke and blending. I still need to work on the sky and the middle yet portion of the painting yet.

My Artist Statement

My name is Rachel Roiger, and I enjoy art. I have never really gotten into art not because I didn't want to take more art classes, but because I wanted to concentrate on other subjects in school. I'm glad I took art again in my Senior year, because it reminded me on how much I like and enjoy art.

Art is fun to do. There are many different things I can do. My favorite types of art would be drawing and painting. I like how I can blend everything together to make it look smooth, rough, and sharp, and I can make it any texture that I want it to be. It's not like any other class in school where I have to do it exactly like this or exactly like that to be right. I can make it how I want to and not be wrong.

I make art because for me it's a good outlet for my emotions and feelings. My every thought and feeling can be put into one piece of art. After that, most of the time I feel good.

Pastels

Made these in class. I learned how to make new colors from the pastels and how to make things more realistic. It takes time, but yeah. I think it looks pretty good for one of my first times trying them out on style life objects. The apple is probably my favorite.
